It gives me GREAT pleasure and honor to serve as your Potentate for the year 2008. I pledge to you that my Lady Dorothy and I will represent El-Karubah to the best of our ability. We have a terrific Divan in place this year. Please give them your full support.

Membership remains our greatest challenge! We should ALL try to bring in one member each this year, what a difference that would make in helping El-Karubah grow and prosper.

Being a Shriner is a 10 to 1 deal; you get back 10 times what you put into it. I want to remind everyone, that we fund, own and operate the greatest philanthropy on earth, the “SHRINERS HOSPITAL FOR CHILDREN”. It all began back in 1922 right here in Shreveport Louisiana. It currently includes 22 hospitals in the USA with the exception of one in Mexico and one in Canada. This is cause for every Shriner to beam with pride. Many children walk, only because of SHRINERS HOSPITALS. Many burned children live only because of SHRINERS HOSPITALS.

Ladies and Gentlemen we spend, on average, over 1.67 million dollars every day, 365 days a year, to keep our hospital systems operating. That's a lot of dollars! So when you see a Shriner giving his own time, working or selling some little something, think about the Shriners Hospitals and what it has taken to establish them - Shriners devoting their own time and the public supporting them for it! I would also like to thank our Shriner Ladies and the support they provide us, 'in everyway possible', when dealing with the Shrine.
